Report: New England Patriots Claim Tight End Martellus Bennett on Waivers

The New England Patriots have claimed tight end Martellus Bennett on waivers, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Bennett had been waived by the Green Bay Packers on Wednesday, bringing his short tenure at Lambeau Field to a surprising end.

The Packers cited a "failure to disclose a physical condition" for making the move. Bennett was added to the injury report after the bye last week with a shoulder injury. He did not play in the 30-17 loss on Monday to the Detroit Lions.

The outspoken tight end won a Super Bowl with the Patriots last year, his only season in New England.

Bennett signed with the Packers as an unrestricted free agent last offseason and started seven games. He had 24 catches for 233 yards.
