Rising Humidity to Bring Scattered Showers and Thunderstorms

An approaching cold front continues to bring showers and thunderstorms to New England, not just into the evening but also into Friday.

While the afternoon thunderstorms will slowly fizzle as we approach midnight, spotty showers will continue into Friday morning as temperatures settled down into the 50s and 60s. Patchy fog will develop overnight and early tomorrow morning as well.

The daytime hours on Friday will be mostly cloudy, with spotty showers and thunderstorms again continuing off and on. Lightning and gusty winds will be the biggest hazards with any of the storms that develop, much like Thursday. Highs will reach the 70s to near 80 in many communities, excluding far Northern New England where cooler air continues to settle in.

That cooler air reaches the rest of New England on Saturday, with highs in the 60s and 70s with a mixture of sun and clouds. That is the pick of the weekend from a weather standpoint.

Mostly cloudy conditions return on Sunday with scattered showers, especially in Southern New England. Those come from an area of low pressure riding along the front that is moving through this week, and eventually stalls just offshore.

Next week, for now, looks pleasant with highs in the 60s and 70s on many days.
