Fatal Shooting Suspect to Be Arraigned From Hospital Bed

Roxbury shooting 01182019

A man accused of fatally shooting another man in Roxbury on Friday is expected to be arraigned in his hosptial bed Tuesday afternoon, Suffolk County prosecutors announced.

Victor Rodriguez, 28, will likely be charged with murder and unlawful possession of a firearm. The South Boston resident is thought to be responsible for the death of 28-year-old Carl Reynolds of Roxbury.

Rodriguez is currently being treated at Brigham and Women's Hosptial for gunshot wounds he acquired during the shooting.

It has not yet been announced who will represent Rodriguez in court.

Boston police say the shooting happened as a result of an argument between Rodriguez and Reynolds that occurred on Washington Street near Jamaica Plain in the Egleston Square area.

Many neighbors were startled by the gunshots, and at least one bullet hit a nearby Uber car. Neither the driver nor the passenger were injured.

Police found both men injured at the scene around 3:30 p.m. Reynolds had stumbled into a nearby liquor store, but was pronounced dead after being taken to a hospital. Rodriguez was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
