Sandwich Shops and Diners Among This Week’s Boston-Area Restaurant Openings

Check out this week's roundup of some of the restaurants that are opening (and closing) in the Boston area.

The restaurant originally opened in the late 1980s and featured pub food as well as beer, wine, and cocktails. The restaurant also features a large patio and space for functions. The address will be 107 Union Street in Newton Centre.
Popular Chestnut Hill restaurant Aquitaine will close for a few months for renovations. The restaurant will remain closed through the fall. The other two locations, one in the South End and one in Legacy Place will remain open. The Chestnut Hill location first opened in 2000. The address is 11 Boylston Street in Chestnut Hill.
The Olde Salt House in Cohasset has reopened. The restaurant's outdoor dining area crumbed into the ocean due to erosion back in June. The patio was renovated and the restaurant is back in business. The restaurant is located at 44 Border Street in Cohasset.
Chez Henri's Cuban Sandwiches will now be offered at the Automatic in Cambridge. The famous sandwiches will start being offered on July 31. The original Chez Henri was located on Shepard Street between Porter and Harvard Squares. The restaurant closed in late 2013 after nearly 20 years in business. The Automatic is located at 50 Hampshire Street in Cambridge.
Evergreen Eatery may open in the former La Rana Rossa space in Jamaica Plain. No further information about the restaurant was immediately available. The restaurant would be located at 154 Green Street in Jamaica Plain.
J&M Diner in Framingham will reopen in a new space. After a fire destroyed the popular diner earlier this year, the owners were able to move the diner to a new spot on Route 9. The restaurant is set to open sometime this fall. It will be located at 50 Worcester Road in Framingham.
The Broadway plans to open in South Boston. The restaurant will take over the spot of the former Boston Beer Garden. No further information was immediately available about the restaurant. It will be located at 734 E Broadway in South Boston.
Charlie's Sandwich Shoppe in the South End has reopened. The restaurant first opened in 1927 and then shut down in the summer of 2014. It reopened under new ownership in early 2016 and then closed this past April. The shop has reopened at 429 Columbus Aveneue in the South End.
Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steak House plans to open at the Prudential Center. The location will be the second Double Eagle Steak House in Boston, the first is in the Seaport. There are also two other more casual Del Frisco's Grille restaurants in Chestnut Hill and Burlington. The restaurant will offer items such as steaks, chops, and seafood and serve beer, wine, and cocktails.
The popular Pokeworks is opening another location in Cambridge. The restaurant is set to be located somewhere in Harvard Square. the other is already located in Davis Square. The restaurant is famous for their "pokirritos" a type of sushi burrito.
Nagoya is now open on Riverside Avenue in Medford. The restaurant features Chinese and Japanese fare, including chicken lo mein, fried rice, tempura, and sushi. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner, 7 days a week. The address is 38 Riverside Avenue in Medford.
Rosemary Bystrak
Blossom Bar is opening inside Sichuan Garden in Brookline Village. It is unclear what kinds of drinks the bar will offer or whether it will have its own food menu. The location is 295 Washington Street in Brookline.
730 Tavern and Patio is planning to open in Central square. The restaurant will service classic American fare. The address will be 730 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge.
Honeygrow is opening in the Seaport District. The Philadelphia-based chain will offer salads with house-made dressings as well as stir-fry noodle dishes with meat and vegetable options. The restaurant will be the second in Boston, there is one on Boylston Street in Fenway. The opening date is not yet set. The location will be 100 Northern Ave.
Caffe Nero
Caffe Nero is coming to Boston's Seaport Square. The London-based chain opened its first Boston location in 2014. Currently there are locations in Allston, Brookline, Fenway, and Downtown Boston. The address for the new spot will be 25 Northern Avenue.
The Clover Food Trucks will be taken off the road. The truck on Newbury Street has already shut down and the one located at Dewey Square will shut down next week.
Aprile's in North Chelmsford is closing its doors. The restaurant, famous for their European food, specifically their pizza, will close on April 30. The restaurant is located at 75 Princeton Street in North Chemlsford.
Figs in Boston's Beacon Hill neighborhood is set to reopen. The restaurant was destroyed by a fire back in October. There is another location on Main Street in Charlestown. The Beacon Hill location is located at 42 Charles Street.
Lanes & Games in Cambridge will close for good on August 13. The popular bowling alley has been open for more than 30 years. It is located at 195 Concord Turnpike, Cambridge.
