Dry air continues hanging on in New England as a dome of high pressure drifts east, slowly enough to hold rain far to our west but relinquishing its grip enough for gradually increasing high altitude clouds Tuesday.
Clouds will gradually increase overnight Tuesday and will be variable on Wednesday as humidity increases from the south. In fact, the increasing humidity both at the surface and aloft comes on the far northern periphery of Tropical Depression Six, located several hundred miles to the south of New England, between the Carolinas and Bermuda.
Though the storm is predicted to stay well south of New England, some of the humid air encircling the storm center will push far enough north. This not only makes things a bit sticky at home by later Wednesday, but also causing some late scattered showers.
Overnight Wednesday, a shot of rain will traverse New England as the increased moisture intersects an incoming cold front. That’s set to sweep rain out early Thursday morning with the sun returning in the afternoon likely to boost temperatures over 80 degrees.
Nearly all New England communities are expected to rise well into the 80s on Friday before another cold front sweeps through, this time with little fanfare in the form of showers or thunder. It is sure to knock temperatures down Saturday beneath beautiful sunshine with pleasant air and highs in the middle to upper 70s.
Sunday is likely to be a great day, though an isolated late shower can’t be ruled out in Western New England.
