Driver Taken to Hospital After School Bus Crashes Into Tree in Lakeville

There were four students on board the bus at the time of the crash

A school bus carrying elementary school students crashed into a tree Thursday in Lakeville, Massachusetts.

The bus went off the road around 4:10 p.m. and then struck a tree head-on.

Emergency crews responded within four minutes to the Pickens Street scene.

The driver had to be extricated from the bus and was transported by ambulance to Good Samaritan Medical Center with a non-life threatening injury.

There were four children on the bus at the time of the crash. All were evaluated on scene and released to their parents.

"We got lucky today," the Lakeville Fire Department said.

It's unclear if the accident was weather related. Lakeville police are investigating.
