Serial Bank Robber Arrested While Gambling at Plainridge Casino

Police have made an arrest in the ongoing investigation into a series of bank robberies in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

Joseph Hickson, 31, of Walpole, Massachusetts, was taken into custody at Plainridge Park Casino on Wednesday. He'll be arraigned on Thursday morning. The exact charges he is facing have not been released.

It is unclear if Hickson has an attorney.

Massachusetts State Police said Hickson was arrested around 2:45 p.m. Wednesday while he was gambling inside the casino. He was taken outside without incident and transported to state police barracks in Foxboro, where he was booked as a fugitive from justice.

His Hyundai was located outside the casino and towed to state police barracks.

Police said Hickson was wanted in connection with three recent armed bank robberies in Franklin, Massachusetts and Cranston and East Providence, Rhode Island.

The Massachusetts Gaming Commission stated that the Gaming Enforcement Unit and FBI teamed up with state and local law enforcement to make the arrest.

"This is a great example of those partnerships at work and is a credit to the vigilance of our gaming enforcement unit," the statement said.
