A female pedestrian was killed after being run over by an MBTA swing-loader in Norwood, Massachusetts, on Friday, police confirmed.
The Norfolk District Attorney's Office identified the pedestrian, who was hit on Broadway and Central Street around 8:45 a.m., as 55-year-old Cheryl Ann McCarthy of Dedham.
The driver of the swing-loader, a 10-year veteran of Keolis, was taken to the hospital to be treated for shock.
Keolis operates the MBTA's Commuter Rail and was in the area of the Central Street MBTA station working on a 3-month bridge project involving train tracks.
Susan Eno, a manager at a nearby gas station, said the woman who was killed is a regular there. A Dunkin' Donuts clerk said the woman had ordered a coffee about a minute before the accident.

"I was standing outside having a cigarette and all of a sudden I heard someone leaning on their horn," Eno said. "I saw the traffic build up and I said, 'Somebody must have gotten hit.' I walked around and I saw her laying there. She was a mess."
"It's scary," she added. "You never know."
The matter remains under investigation by Norwood police, MBTA Transit Police and Massachusetts State Police. No charges have been filed at this time.
