Shark Reported Near Nauset Beach

There is no word on whether the beach was closed

A great white shark has been spotted close to shore off Nauset Public Beach in Orleans, Massachusetts.

The sighting was reported by the Atlantic White Shark Conservncy around 11:30 a.m. Monday.

There is no word on whether the beach is closed.

Beaches in Wellfleet and Truro were closed over the weekend after a fatal shark attack.

Arthur Medici, 26, died at the hospital after getting bitten Saturday while boogie boarding off Newcomb Hollow Beach in Wellfleet. It was the first fatal shark attack in Massachusetts in more than 80 years.

Wareham officials also reported a great white shark sighting on Sunday, in the area between Stony Point Dike and Wings Neck. No beaches were closed as a result of the sighting.
