Showers Ending Our Week as They Move Through Region

A band of steady rain moves through northern New England Friday, but in southern New England, just a few showers move through from time to time. That means plenty of dry, but cloudy hours during the day. The best chance of a few showers from Boston to Worcester is during the late afternoon and evening.

A gusty south wind will develop, pushing highs into the 50s and 60s for most, except for 40s in far northern New England, where it stays cooler under the steadier rain.

The rain and clouds clear out Friaday night, with temperatures by morning in the 40s to near 50. That will set us up for a gorgeous Saturday. We’ll enjoy sunshine with highs in the 60s to near 70 to start this weekend. A northwest wind will even keep most seabreezes at bay.

Mother’s Day isn’t as nice, with another wave of low pressure approaching. That will give us weather very similar to last Sunday, meaning lots of clouds, but not a complete washout.

The odds of staying dry are highest north of Boston, with the shower risk being much higher south of Boston. Highs will be in the 50s and 60s.

The risk of rain increases Monday and Tuesday, and by then it’s not just wet, but also quite cool. Highs will only be in the upper 40s and low to middle 50s.

There are signs of more sunshine and milder air returning for the end of next week.
