Clouds Give Way to Sunshine; Warm Temperatures Heading Into Memorial Day Weekend

After many up and down shifts in temperature this month, highs trend decidedly upward as Memorial Day weekend approaches.

Early morning clouds and showers give way to increasing sunshine and a mild afternoon Wednesday. Highs reach the 70s to near 80.

A cold front will slide back through parts of New England on Thursday. That will keep towns in Eastern New England and along the coast in the 60s and 70s, with 70s to near 80-degree temperatures in Western New England where cooler air stays at bay.

All of New England enjoys a surge of warmth on Friday, with highs popping into the 80s and even near 90.

That warmth will continue to some extent on Saturday, at least in Southern New England. That’s where highs remain in the 80s. In far northern New England it will turn cooler as a front drops south. That may trigger a few pop-up showers or storms in those areas.

The same front continues to work south after that, meaning most of us are cooler by Sunday. Highs will mainly be in the 60s to near 70 not just Sunday, but then into Monday itself.

Sunday and Monday will also bring more clouds and a few occasional showers. It does not look like either day will be a washout, however.

We’ll be fine turning the exact shower and storm threat as we get closer, so continue to check back for updates.
