Low pressure that brought a period of rain through northern New England is lifting north and away Wednesday morning. Rain in Maine should end soon if not already.
But clouds will remain, with a high temperature in the 70s in northern New England and a chance of a shower or thunderstorm at any point. There will be plenty of sunshine for southern New England after an early morning fog or low clouds, with wind from the south gusting to 20 mph.
High temperature will be well into the 80s Wednesday, the feel of summer for one day. We’re facing the chance of a shower or thunderstorm as a cool front moves in late day and evening.
The front only slowly moves to the south coast during the night, with cooler air moving in from north to south. It will create a clearing sky north with a low temperature in the 40s and 50s. It will remain partly cloudy south with a low in the 50s and 60s.
A weak wave of low pressure on the front along our south coast may keep clouds in southern New England Thursday with a chance of a few showers. It looks mostly sunny to the north with cooler weather as highs will be in the 60s near 70 degrees. Wind from the north and northeast will gust at 10 to 15 mph.
Strong high pressure from Canada moves in with a chilly night Thursday. It will be mostly clear with low temperature in the 30s and 40s north, to 40s and 50s south overnight. Friday looks like a nice day with plenty of sunshine and a high temperature in the 60s.

Another front will move across New England on Saturday with a mix of sun and clouds and a few showers high temperature back into the 70s south, 60s north.

Most of New England should be on the warmer side of the front again by Sunday with a good amount of sunshine and a high temperature in the 70s to near 80 degrees.
It’s a very busy weather map with record heat in the southeastern United States and cold weather in the west of the U.S. and much of Canada. Plenty of thunderstorm activity along the boundaries.
Determining which side of the front we are going to be on next week is a pretty big challenge, but right now we are leaning toward the warmer side in our First Alert 10-Day Forecast.
