Springfield Officer Dies From Swimming Accident in Vermont

Officer Aaron McNab, 30, was found on the shoreline of Lake Morey in Vermont

A police officer from Springfield, Massachusetts, died in a swimming accident, according to NBC affiliate WWLP.

Officer Aaron McNab, 30, was swimming in Vermont's Lake Morey on Friday night when the accident occurred, Springfield police said.

State troopers in Vermont were alerted that Officer McNab was missing around 9 p.m., according to Acting Commissioner Cheryl Clapprood.

His body was discovered by state troopers near the shoreline around 10:30 p.m.

Officer McNab had served the City of Springfield as a police officer since last November.
