Stoughton Man Charged With Stabbing Wife to Death Pleads Not Guilty

Ilton Rodrigues faces murder, assault and battery charges for allegedly killing his 43-year-old wife Telma Bras

A Massachusetts man who police say killed his wife before attempting to commit suicide while their two children were at home has pleaded not guilty.

The Enterprise reports Ilton Rodrigues entered the plea in Superior Court Monday. He faces murder, assault and battery and other charges.

Police say they found 49-year-old Rodrigues lying in a pool of blood with a knife in his chest on May 3. His wife was next to him. Police say Telma Sa Bras was dead by the time they arrived at the Stoughton apartment and had been stabbed several times.

Prosecutors say the couple's 7-year-old son and 17-year-old daughter were home at the time.

Rodrigues' defense attorney didn't dispute the prosecutor's request to hold his client without bail. His next court appearance is in September.
