40-Year-Old Man Shot and Killed in Hartford

A 40-year-old man was shot and killed in Hartford on Thursday night and police are trying to figure out who shot him.

Police responded to Main Street and Cleveland Avenue around 8:20 p.m. after receiving a 911 call reporting gunshots and a man lying on the ground.

When police arrived, they began performing CPR on the man, who had been shot in the arm and upper chest, police said.

He was not carrying identification, but police identified him as  Joseph Jiles, 40, of Hartford, on Friday morning.

An ambulance transported Jiles to Hartford Hospital's trauma center, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
