Target Corp. plans to open an 11,000-square-foot store at 100 Cambridge St. near Boston’s City Hall as part of a national expansion of what the Minneapolis-based retail giant calls "small-format stores."
A Target representative did not specify when the store is expected to open, and the company website lists the 100 Cambridge St. location as one of several "future store openings."
The area around Boston's Government Center and North Station has seen a surge of real-estate development. Two towers at the Government Center Garage now going up: a 46-story apartment and condo tower at 100-110 Sudbury St. — recently dubbed "The Sudbury" — and an adjacent 43-story office tower that will be home to the headquarters of State Street Corp. headquarters.
