Teacher in Class Where KKK Jingle Performed to Return

Harbron says that on Nov. 30 students in a high school classroom "expressed racial insensitivity'' while giving an oral presentation as part of an assignment.

A Dover High School teacher who led a class in which students were captured on video singing a jingle about the Ku Klux Klan is expected to return to teaching next fall after studying race, bias and privilege.

Superintendent William Harbron said in a written statement released Friday that teacher John Carver will remain on paid administrative leave for the rest of the school year.

Harbron says that on Nov. 30 students in a high school classroom "expressed racial insensitivity'' while giving an oral presentation as part of an assignment. He says an investigation has concluded and students and staff have been notified of the outcome.

He says the incident has had a profound impact on the Dover community and those involved.
