A tennis coach accused of indecent assault and battery on a young player was released on personal recognizance after his arraignment Friday morning.
Eric Rosales, 57, of Allston, allegedly engaged in improper, unwanted physical contact with a child under 14 during a tennis lesson, according to the Suffolk County district attorney's office.
The victim was identified by authorities as a girl in her early teens.
Officials say the alleged assault took place on Aug. 8 at a court on Nonantum Road.
Prosecutors said the girl was at the Daly Field Athletic Complex in Brighton for an outdoor tennis lesson, and as she walked behind the bleachers with Rosales, he asked her about her summer and then said, "Why don't you give me a hug?"
The girl told police she hugged Rosales, and he touched and felt her buttocks with his hands before she pulled away. He then came up behind her and hugged her and groped her breasts and pulled her toward his midsection, kissing her on the neck and saying, "I missed you."
Rosales said nothing during his arraignment in Brighton District Court.

Outside court, defense attorney Jamison House said Rosales denies any inappropriate contact. He said Rosales has no criminal record and in his 40-year coaching career has never been accused of anything like this.
"Right now he's pretty shook up," House said. "We'll see how the process plays out but right now he denies these allegations wholeheartedly."
Rosales, who has since been fired from his job as a tennis coach, was ordered to have no contact with the victim or any children under the age of 16. He's due back in court on Dec. 7.
