The beautiful weather of Monday is fading a bit on Tuesday.
High pressure from Canada that brought our Monday sunshine and low humidity is now moving east, out to sea. On the backside, we have increasing humidity with a slight chance for a shower or thunderstorm in the afternoon.
In addition, we have a low-pressure system moving well southeast of Nantucket. That system may keep clouds in southeastern New England much of the day, with rain likely staying just offshore. But for most of us, it is partly to mostly sunny with a high temperature in the 80s and the dewpoint climbing back into the 60s.
The low pressure at sea will move away Tuesday night, but two fronts from the west will gradually move our direction. One front on Wednesday will generate many thunderstorms in New England during the afternoon and evening.
High temperature in the 80s with the dewpoint in the lower 70s is adequate moisture to fuel strong to severe thunderstorms. Areas of flash flooding are possible, too. That front will stall over us Wednesday night, and another front will come in from the west Thursday, with more rounds of heavy to severe thunderstorms. Again, there is a possibility of localized flash flooding.
Our First Alert is flying for the Wednesday and Thursday heavy rain and thunderstorms.
The alert flag drops on Friday, when cooler and drier air comes back in. We should gradually turn sunny again by Friday, with decreasing humidity and temperatures remaining in the low 80s.

High pressure from Canada should come in for the weekend, with temperatures cooling to the upper 70s to near 80 degrees, with plenty of sunshine Saturday and Sunday.
