A major winter storm is threatening to bring a foot of snow to parts of New England Thursday with blizzard conditions possible for some areas.

The NBC10 Boston and NECN weather team has issued a First Alert, with more than a foot of snow expected in some areas.

Wednesday: Clouds thicken, occasional flurries and snow showers east. Highs in the 20s. Overnight Wednesday: Heavy snow. Lows around 20. Thursday: Near-blizzard conditions early with snow and gusty wind. Many accumulations around and over a foot with less on Cape Cod. Highs around 20 inland, 30 coast.
