The Lynn City Council is reportedly facing a lawsuit from the town of Saugus for allowing a recreational marijuana shop on the town line.
According to the Daily Item, court documents show the suit alleges that a small part of the building meant to house the shop, a third of the deck, most of the parking spaces and a dumpster are in Saugus, where recreational pot stores were made illegal in 2016.
The suit, brought by the Saugus Board of Selectmen, was called a "waste of taxpayer money," by Sam Vitali, an attorney representing Massachusetts Green Retail, the Daily Item reports.

"Saugus voted against marijuana and they adopted a bylaw within their town," Vitali told the Daily Item. "Unfortunately, it’s not the republic of Saugus. It’s the town of Saugus."
The city of Lynn approved the recreational marijuana store last month. Vitali told the Daily Item that his client is moving forward with opening procedures.
