Police noted that the turn the truck took was legal, and that the motorcyclist couldn't stop, crashing into the passenger side of the truck's cab.
The man on the motorcycle was taken by ambulance to Massachusetts General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The Massachusetts Department of Transportation said earlier that the tractor-trailer truck was leaking fuel. Emergency crews drained the tank before towing it away.
The right lane of Route 16 was temporarily closed, but the scene was cleared around 11 a.m.
