Fuller Elected Mayor of Newton, Massachusetts

Voters in Newton, Massachusetts have narrowly elected Ruthanne Fuller as the city's next mayor.

Fuller, a city councilor, and City Council President Scott Lennon had been vying to succeed outgoing Mayor Setti Warren, who is running for governor.

It was a close race, with unofficial returns showing Fuller won by less than 400 votes out of more than 24,000 cast in the Boston suburb.

Fuller and Lennon agreed on most issues but recently clashed over the topics of gender and class.

Fuller, a graduate of Brown University and Harvard Business School, and her husband Joe have lived in Newton almost 25 years and have three sons: Mark, Chris, and David.

Lennon, a graduate of Merrimack College, resides in Newton with his wife Wendy and daughter Jenna.
