2 Teenagers Arrested in Connection to Lynn, Mass. Triple Shooting

Two teenagers were arrested Thursday in connection with a recent triple shooting that left one man dead and two others injured in Lynn, Massachusetts.

Romel Danis, a 25-year-old man from Lynn, died June 23 after the gunmen opened fire.

Victor Alexander Figueroa-Flores, 18, was charged with first-degree murder following his arrest. He is being held without bail, a decision that the victim's family praises as justice.

The victim's distraught mother expressed her heartbreak to NBC10 Boston.

"I can't believe that happened to my son," said Pastora Silverio. "He was never going out to do nothing, was always with his family."

Danis was leaving a party with two friends early Saturday morning when prosecutors said they were ambushed on Lawton Avenue in Lynn.

"As they pass the driveway where the defendant is lying in wait, you can see gunshots and the three victims are shot," said prosecutor Danielle Doherty.

Danis died at the scene while his two friends were seriously injured.

"One got hit in the leg, he got released the same day, the other was in critical but he’s stable now," said Danis' older brother Jhonny Bryan.

Bryan said he doesn’t think his family even knows Figueroa-Flores or the 16-year-old boy from Lynn who was arrested in New York.

"We just don’t know why. My brother is not a kid that looks for problems," said Bryan. "So that's why we’re trying to find out why, like why if he was going after one of the other kids, why shoot so much to hurt so many people."

About an hour after Figueroa-Flores was held without bail, Danis' family celebrated the young man's life in a funeral around the corner from the courthouse.

"My brother’s gone, so it’s like we’re going to suffer for the rest of our lives just like their family’s going to suffer for the rest of their lives, there’s really no justice, there’s really no happy ending," Bryan said.

The motive for the shooting remains unclear.
