1 Dead, 1 Missing in Fall River Boating Accident

Brent Osborne was found by another boater and pronounced dead at a local hospital; Marc Hanoud remains missing at sea

One man has died and another is still missing after a boating accident, according to Massachusetts authorities.

The fatal incident occurred Saturday night in Mount Hope Bay, off the coast of Fall River.

Multiple 911 calls were placed reporting a boat crash at approximately 5:34 p.m. It appears two men were ejected when the boat hopped in the wake of another boat and crashed into a large wave at a high speed before capsizing off Spar Island.

The blue powerboat was operated by owner Marc Hanoud, 35, of Berkley, who remains missing, according to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office.

The United States Coast Guard searched more than 83 square miles for Hanoud before suspending its search at 6:30 p.m. Sunday pending new information. More than 18 agencies assisted in the search.

Hanoud's passenger, Brent Osborne, 42, of Middleboro, was found in the water by another boater and rushed to shore. Osborne was rushed to St. Anne’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

This incident remains under investigation.
