Warm Front Brings Humidity and Scattered Showers to Region

Some areas may see thunderstorms

A tropical air mass and an approaching warm front will usher in increasing humidity and scattered showers across New England today. Clouds will hang tough across the region with a few peaks of sun poking through during the afternoon.

An onshore flow will keep fog near or at the south coast for most of the day. While most of the day will be dry, we cannot rule out widely scattered showers and even a thunderstorm or two. High temperatures will reach into the upper 70s to low 80s away from the coast.

A cold front will traverse New England tomorrow, bringing an increased chance of showers during the morning before waning during the afternoon. We're expecting another mostly cloudy and dry day for most with highs again reaching into the upper 70s to low 80s inland, mid to upper 60s at the coast.

A sprawling area of high pressure centered near Hudson Bay will move into the region Sunday, resulting in mostly sunny skies. A cool onshore flow develops, keeping areas at the coast in the 60s with inland areas reaching into the 70s.

A developing area of low pressure off the Mid-Atlantic may bring some showers to the south coast later in the day.

Looking ahead to next week, a stiff onshore flow remains as New England becomes stuck between a developing system offshore and high pressure near the Canadian Maritimes.

This will result in the continued risk of showers Monday and Tuesday with temperatures running about 10 to 15 degrees below normal for this time of year. Temperatures will range from the 50s across the higher terrain and the coast to the 60s inland. A few locations may tie record low high temperatures during Monday and Tuesday.

Heading into the middle of the week, a cut-off low pressure will dictate how much temperatures rebound towards 70 degrees with clouds and showers around. More details are on your Early Warning Weather 10-Day Forecast on NBC10 Boston and necn.
