No one was injured when two wheels flew off a truck on Interstate 95 in Needham, Massachusetts, on Friday morning, striking two cars, police said.
The driver of the truck spoke exclusively to NBC10 Boston, explaining that the tires came off his truck without warning.
"The lugs snapped and the tires went flying off into the oncoming traffic," said the driver, who asked to be identified as Danny D.
The tractor-trailer "lost a couple of rear wheels" on I-95 south shortly before 10:30 a.m., Massachusetts State Police said. They said the wheels bounced across the median to the northbound side of the highway, striking at least two cars.

No injuries were reported.
The driver said he "almost lost the whole truck."
After the wheels came off, the vehicle "dipped and started pulling and I got it to the break down lane before it went over."
A Honda CRV and black Mercedes sustained varying degrees of front-end damage. Accident reconstruction investigators were able to get the truck off the highway, despite the missing wheels.
The vehicle was heading to Middleboro with a large load of rocks.
Danny D. said he has been driving for 20 years and never experienced something like this.
"I'm just glad nobody got hurt. [That's] all that matters to me," he said.
A heavy duty tow truck and the Massachusetts Department of Transportation assisted at the scene, state police said. The tractor-trailer was removed from the scene and all lanes reopened by 11 a.m.
