Wintery Wallop Could Dump 2 Feet of Snow on East Coast; Blizzard Watch for DC

Forecasters warned Wednesday of a major developing snowstorm that could dump snow, ice and treacherous conditions on every large Northeast city, NBC News reported.

A storm due to start taking shape Thursday promises another wintry wallop for millions in the Northeast and Midwest, and is expected to last through the weekend.

The storm could produce a "prolific" amount of snow that affects millions across the eastern part of the U.S. and causes coastal flooding in the Northeast, according to The Weather Channel.

The Washington, D.C., area could see 10 to 18 inches of snow with areas further west expecting up to two feet. NBC Washington's Storm Team4 said a blizzard watch would be in effect from Friday afternoon through late Saturday night.

While the track of the storm was still not immediately clear, snow is expected to start in the central plains on Thursday then move into the northeast corridor.
