Man Shot While Riding Bike in Worcester, Mass. Dies

'It’s really sad. This place used to be safe and it’s not safe anymore,' one Worcester resident said

A 37-year-old man was fatally shot while riding his bike Saturday evening in Worcester, Massachusetts, in what witnesses are calling a drive-by shooting.

Police say the call came in around 6:30 p.m. for a reported shooting in the area of 72 Country Club Blvd.

Responding officers found a victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries.

There was no immediate word on a suspect, but K-9s were seen canvassing the area around Lincoln Village Apartments searching for clues.

"Nobody is really saying anything, it would be nice if they could tell those who are living here what happened," one Worcester resident said. "It’s really sad. This place used to be safe and it’s not safe anymore."

It all happened while kids were playing just around the block.

"Your kids can’t be outside, you can't walk outside, it's just, terrible," the woman added.

Investigators say they do not believe this was a random act of violence.

Anyone with information regarding the shooting is asked to call the Worcester Police Detective Bureau at (508) 799-8651 or send an anonymous text message to 274637 TIPWPD+
