A driver has been taken into custody in Worcester, Massachusetts after police said he crashed into a triple-decker which then burst into flames late Monday night.
The 2-alarm fire burned through the side of the Cambridge Street home around 11 p.m. until its flames eventually engulfed the attic. The building’s four occupants were able to safely escape.
Firefighters were ordered out of the building after the heavy slate roof collapsed.
"It's scary to see that," a neighbor told NBC10 Boston. "You don't want nothing to happen to any family."
The car crashing into the house understandably scared Amilton Semedo and other residents who woke up to the noise.
"Listen, you feel it in your chest. Like that sound was really close. Like a thumping sound, like a boom. Like a firework went off," Semedo recalled.
Semedo hardly got to enjoy his new home before the crash and fire occurred.

"I literally just bought the building a month and a half ago," he said. "The first mortgage payment was actually going to be on (July) 1st."
The Red Cross is assisting those who were displaced in the blaze.
No injuries were reported.
It was not immediately clear if any charges were filed against the driver.
