Crack Found After Officers Chase Down Truck on Cape Cod, Police Say

A man was arrested on drug-possession charges after an early morning police chase in Cape Cod Sunday, police said.

Officers found crack cocaine, what appears to be a crude pipe and hallucinogenic mushrooms in the Ford F-150 pickup truck that led officers into the parking lot of a West Yarmouth resort, according to a statement from the Yarmouth Police Department released Monday.

An officer spotted the pickup speeding down Route 28 in West Yarmouth at 2:18 a.m. and attempted to stop the vehicle, police said. But the pickup sped up and into the parking lot of the Bayside Resort Hotel.

It drove over a boulder on the shoulder of the road, which became stuck underneath the truck, according to police. The truck came to a stop inside the parking lot and the driver, identified as Arpad Peter Voros Jr., a 29-year-old from Yarmouth, was detained.

One officer found "a water bottle with tin foil on the top and a straw inserted into the side of the water bottle as well as a roll of tin foil" (pictured) inside the truck, according to police, and another officer later found three white rocks, which would test positive for crack cocaine, inside tin foil.

Officers also allegedly found a clear bag with the hallucinogenic mushrooms inside.

Voros was arrested on charges including drug possession, speeding and failing to stop police and taken to Yarmouth police headquarters ahead of his arraignment on Monday. It's unclear if he has an attorney.
