New Scoreboard Turns Into Eyesore for North Quincy, Mass. Neighbor

Homeowner has large sign obstructing his backyard view

A shiny, new scoreboard stands tall in a North Quincy, Massachusetts, neighborhood, but not all residents are happy about it.

The 25-foot-wide by 20-foot-tall structure was recently put up on the city's athletic field behind North Quincy High School.

Homeowner Sky Shen told necn the structure blocks most of the backyard view at his Price Street home.

"I don't understand why they can't set up on the other side instead of so close to my property," said Shen. "You go to the other side there's nothing — just street."

The scoreboard, which will be used by the school's football and soccer teams starting next week, sits just four feet from Shen's gate.

Shen says he doesn't mind have the field and scoreboard in his backyard, he just doesn't understand why it was placed in that spot.

"Nobody told me this big board would be behind my yard," he said.

necn reached out to city officials for comment but has not heard back.
