1 Killed, 1 Injured in Shooting in Cambridge, Mass.

Officers responded to reports of gunfire near Mount Auburn Street just before 10 p.m.

Police in Cambridge, Massachusetts, are investigating a deadly shooting that happened Tuesday night.

The pain runs deep for friends of Armando Hernandez. The 30-year-old Belmont resident was gunned down Tuesday night on Mount Auburn Street, right outside the Mount Auburn Hospital.

"He was a man that was on his way home to his children and his children - they didn't get to say 'bye' to their father," said Hernandez's friend, India Stevenson, addressing the person who pulled the trigger. "I hope you remember that for the rest of your life."

Officers responded to reports of gunfire near Mount Auburn Street just before 10 p.m. They found two men suffering from gunshot wounds.

Both men were taken to Mt. Auburn Hospital. Hernandez did not survive.

"He helped everybody who was in unfortunate situations," Stevenson said. "People who were out of their home for whatever reason, he was there."

Hernandez, a father to three and a stepfather, was coming home from work at the time of the shooting.

The second man remains hospitalized with serious injuries. He has not been identified.

Police are left looking for the suspect who took away this life in the middle of the street.

"He's very much a coward, very much a coward," said Stevenson. "You had to take a life for no reason."
