1 Person Killed in 2-Alarm Fire in Bellingham, Mass.

The fire was located at 21 Rawson Road

The Massachusetts State Fire Marshal's Office says one person is dead following a two-alarm fire in Bellingham Friday morning.

Investigators have identified the man whose body was found in a basement after a house fire at 21 Rawson Road on Friday in Bellingham, Massachusetts.

The Worcester County District Attorney's office said Saturday that the victim, Bruce J. LeBlanc, was a 51-year-old resident of the Rawson Road home where he died.

Firefighters arrived at about 8:30 a.m. Friday, during frigid weather, after a neighbor called to report a fire in the suburban neighborhood just off Interstate 495.

They encountered heavy fire in the kitchen area. Dozens of firefighters from neighboring towns helped put out the fire, and a crew from nearby Woonsocket, Rhode Island, helped staff Bellingham's fire stations.

The district attorney's office is now looking into what caused the fire but says it's not considered suspicious.
