13-Year-Old Peabody Boy Dies After Being Hit by Car

A 13-year-old Peabody, Massachusetts, boy has died after he was hit by a car while crossing the street on a bicycle on Tuesday night.

The accident occurred around 8:45 p.m. on Route 114 near the Walgreens plaza, according to Peabody police. The boy was taken to Salem Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The boy's name has not been released pending the notification of family.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of the victim at this incredibly difficult time," Peabody Police Chief Thomas Griffin said in a statement.

Police said the driver of the vehicle, a 19-year-old Peabody man, is cooperating with the investigation and has not been charged at this time.

The crash remains under investigation by Peabody police and Massachusetts State Police.
