15-Month-Old in Torrington Died From Alcohol Intoxication, Submersion: ME

The death of a 15-month-old baby boy who was found unresponsive in a bathtub in Torrington in June has been ruled a homicide. 

The Medical Examiner's office said the cause of the boy's death was submersion in a bathtub with blunt injuries of the head and acute alcohol intoxication. 

On June 6, police said the baby’s mother called 911 at 10:54 a.m. after arriving home and learning what happened while the baby had been in the care of another adult.

Torrington police, the fire department and Campion Ambulance responded to the home in the 400 block of South Main Street and the child was transported to Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, where he later died.

Witnesses reported the little boy had on a breathing mask or respirator on when he was taken to the ambulance.

Torrington Police said they have an open active criminal investigation. No other details were immediately available.
