17 Arrested in RI Organized Criminal Gambling Sweep

They were scheduled to be arraigned at 2 p.m.

Seventeen people have been arrested on charges relating to the management of a criminal internet-based gambling organization, Rhode Island State Police announced Tuesday.

The arrests are the result of an eight-month investigation led by state police and the Rhode Island Attorney General's Office. Arrest and search warrants were executed on Tuesday morning by state police, the FBI, the U.S. Marshals Service, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and 14 police departments from cities and towns across the state.

The following is a list of subjects and charges pending: 

  • Thomas J. Pilderian, 45, of 55 Pine Ridge Road, Cranston: Bookmaking, organized criminal gambling, conspiracy 
  • Mark B. Battista, 39, of 400 Narragansett Parkway, Warwick: Bookmaking, organized criminal gambling, conspiracy, possession of controlled substance
  • Mark V. Marinaro, 43, of 11 Winward Circle, Warwick: Organized criminal gambling, conspiracy 
  • Jason M. Pilderian, 39, of 25 Talbut Road, Scituate: Organized criminal gambling, conspiracy
  • Joseph R. Brunelle, 38, of 12 Palm Street, North Providence: Organized criminal gambling, conspiracy
  • Eric D. Glaude, 40, of 35 Marigold Circle, North Providence: Organized criminal gambling, conspiracy 
  • Dustin R. Sears, 40, of 40 Braeburn Circle, Cranston: Organized criminal gambling, conspiracy
  • David J. Disano, 42, of 83 West Hill Drive, Cranston: Organized criminal gambling, conspiracy
  • Jonny E. Lubo, 44, of 111 Wunnegin Circle, Warwick: Organized criminal gambling, conspiracy
  • James J. Petrella, 31, of 26 Beach Row, Narragansett: Bookmaking, organized criminal gambling, conspiracy
  • Timothy J. Moretti, 46, of 1710 Phenix Avenue, Cranston: Bookmaking, organized criminal gambling, conspiracy, violation of probation for prior convictions of possession with intent to deliver cocaine and possession of 1 ounce to 1 kilogram of cocaine
  • Sean W. Furney, 24, of 48 Roosevelt Street, Warwick: Organized criminal gambling, conspiracy
  • Brian K. Cipolla, 48, of 178 Council Road Road, Cranston: Organized criminal gambling, conspiracy 
  • Lewis Silveira, 50, of 154 North Street, Warwick: Organized criminal gambling, conspiracy
  • John Depietro, 41, of 39 Prospect Avenue, South Kingstown: Possession with intent to deliver 1 to 5 kilos of marijuana, possession of 1 to 5 kilos of marijuana, possession of Adderall with intent to deliver 
  • Christopher R. Costantino, 24, of 10 Cedar Pond Drive, Warwick: Organized criminal gambling, conspiracy
  • Joseph A. Capelli, 38, of 58 Firglade Drive, Cranston: Organized criminal gambling, conspiracy

All 17 men were scheduled to be arraigned at 2 p.m. in district court in Warwick.

State Police executed search warrants at The Cozy Grill, a restaurant in Warwick, and a beach house at 26 Beach Row in Narragansett, according to necn affiliate WJAR.

The investigation is ongoing.
