2 Arrested After Multi-State Chase Face Judge

Methuen Police say they tried to pull over 30-year-old Chad Tombarello, of Lawrence, on Broadway Street near the MSPCA

Two people arrested after a police pursuit spanning two states were arraigned in court Wednesday.

Chad Tombarello and Natasha Johnson, who was a passenger in the car, were arrested Tuesday night.

The chase started in Methuen, Massachusetts, when Tombarello allegedly refused to stop for an officer on Broadway. The pursuit then went to New Hampshire, where he allegedly hit a police cruiser, then circled back to Massachusetts, where he hit a second police cruiser before taking off on foot.

"We try not to pursue unless its extreme measures serious charges. Mr. Tombarello was well know to us and has been wanted for awhile and based upon his erratic operation," Methuen Police Chief Joe Solomon said. "Had he not been stopped we felt he could have injured someone else, that's the reason they continued the pursuit."

Tombarello faces a long list of charges, and police say he has a lengthy criminal history. He was ordered to be held on $95,000 bail, and his bail on previous charges was revoked.

Johnson was charged with disorderly conduct.

None of the officers involved were seriously hurt.
