The United States Coast Guard is searching for a missing boater in the area of Little Compton, Rhode Island, after two others were rescued from the water.
The Coast Guard says a family member called around 9:45 p.m., saying they were on the 17-foot boat for a day trip and had not returned.
One of the men who was rescued swam to Sakonnet Lighthouse. Middletown Fire crews found him.
He told officials that the engine failed, saying the boat took on water and sank.
A Coast Guard helicopter found the second survivor clinging to a buoy about a mile away from the lighthouse.
According to the survivors, all three men were wearing life jackets.
Crews are continuing to search for the third man in Rhode Island Sound.
