2 Brockton Police Cruisers Crash While Chasing Suspect

Two police cruisers crashed while officers were chasing a suspect Wednesday in Brockton, Massachusetts.

Police said they spotted a stolen vehicle and drove after it before it sideswiped one cruiser, causing it to crash into the other cruiser at the intersection of West Elm Street and Bryon Avenue.

One officer was taken to a Boston hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Two others were taken to Brockton's Good Samaritan Medical Center with minor injuries.

An officer got out of one of the damaged cars and went after the suspect on foot, police said. Nineteen-year-old Admilson Pereira of Boston's Dorchester neighborhood was arrested.

Pereira has been charged with failure to stop, reckless operation and unlicensed operation. It was not immediately clear if he had an attorney.
