The John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Fund this week chose from nearly 3,000 applicants in the United States and Canada to award 175 fellowships, including three joint fellowships.

The list includes Cynthia Huntington, a professor of English and creative writing at Dartmouth, who was awarded a fellowship in the poetry category. Darrin McMahon, a history professor at Dartmouth, was awarded a fellowship in the Intellectual and Cultural History category.
