2 Dead, 1 Hospitalized After House Fire in Boothbay, Maine

The fire is under investigation

Police say two people died after a fire tore through a house in Boothbay, Maine, Sunday morning.

The Maine State Fire Marshal's Office said the fire broke out in a first floor living room before 8 a.m. at the home on Pleasant Cove Road.

Authorities said Alexandra King, 26, of Winslow, Maine, and her two children were sleeping on the first floor and escaped with minor injuries.

Another woman on the second floor, Julie Gilbert, 48, of Chicago, escaped by jumping from a bedroom window. Police said she is being treated for burns at Maine Medical Center.

Two men sleeping on the second floor died trying to escape the fire. They were identified as Baldomero Zamora, 50, boyfriend of Gilbert, and Lucas Farias, 23, son of Gilbert.

Investigators say the occupants were renting the home for Zamora's birthday.

A cause of the fire is not known at this time and is under investigation.
