2 Killed in Crash While Fleeing From Police

Two men were killed in a car crash in Vassalboro, Maine, as they fled from Winslow Police early Saturday morning.

Maine State Police confirm the motorist, 32-year-old Ronald Willey of Chelsea, and the passenger, 28-year-old Joseph Knox of Randolph, were killed instantly when the car struck a tree on Bog Road around 1 a.m.

Initial investigation reveals a police sergeant attempted to pull Willey's vehicle over on Bay Street for defective tail lights. The motorist fled from, the scene, initiating a pursuit along Route 32 and then onto Bog Road.

The sergeant said speeds ranged from 65 to 80 mph. He came upon the wreck moments after it occurred.  

The investigation is on-going.
