2 Teens Face 40 Charges in Tire-Slashing Spree

Authorities say several officers using "old school police work" caught the teens in the act on Saturday night

Two Augusta, Maine, teens face a total of 40 criminal charges after police say they slashed tires on vehicles across the city.

Authorities say several officers using "old school police work" caught the teens in the act on Saturday night. Nineteen-year-old Dennis Morton and a 16-year-old boy each were charged with 19 counts of criminal mischief and one count of theft.

A phone number for Morton could not be located Monday, and the younger teen was not publicly identified because of his age. Police are asking anyone else who had their tires slashed in recent days to contact the department.
