2 Bodies Found After Early-Morning Maine Fire

The State Fire Marshal's Office says six people escaped the building unharmed

Two bodies have been found after an early-morning fire that engulfed apartments in a converted farmhouse's garage in Palmyra, Maine.

The fire on Square Road broke out around 3 a.m. Tuesday.

The bodies, believed to be a man and a woman, will have to be recovered later in the morning because the fire is still burning, according to state police.

The State Fire Marshal's Office says nine others escaped the building unharmed; however, it's unclear whether the smoke detectors were working when the fire broke out.

The fire and its cause remains under investigation. Investigators say it will be difficult to trace how the fire started since the garage was destroyed and flattened in the blaze.
