2 With Injuries After Apartment Building Fire

The Red Cross says 7-10 people were displaced

At least two people were taken to a local hospital after a fire broke out at an apartment building in Essex Junction, Vermont, necn affiliate WPTZ reports.

The call came in at 5:30 a.m. for the fire at 1 Cherry Street. Crews from Essex, Essex Junction, Colchester, Mallets Bay, St. Michael's, and Williston responded to the scene.

Fire officials say all residents escaped, but a "couple" of people were taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The extent of the damage and the cause of the blaze is under investigation.  

Seven to 10 residents of the apartment building have been displaced as a result of the fire, according to the Red Cross.
