Police: 2 Wrong-Way Drivers Arrested in Rhode Island

Two drivers in Rhode Island were arrested following separate crashes where they were allegedly driving the wrong way on a highway.

The first arrest happened Saturday night following a crash on Route 4 in East Greenwich. Police say the driver was heading north in the south high-speed lane before hitting another car. They arrested 28-year-old Corey Miller of Pawtucket. He is being charged with DUI and driving to endanger. Miller was treated at Kent County Hospital for minor injuries. The driver and passenger that Miller hit were taken to South County Hospital for non-life threatening injuries and were later released.

The second crash happened early Sunday morning on Interstate 95 in Warwick. Police say they received numerous calls about a wrong-way driver heading south on the northbound lanes.

The wrong-way driver, identified as Cameron Wambolt of West Warwick, sideswiped another car before he crashed into the high-speed lane near Jefferson Boulevard.

Wambolt was not injured in the crash. He is facing DUI and driving to endanger charges. The two people who Wambolt hit were treated at Rhode Island Hospital for non-life threatening injuries and later released.
