Thousands in Braintree, Mass. Lose Power on Easter

(NECN: John Monahan, Braintree, Mass.) - The power went out for more than half of Braintree, Mass. residents just before 1 p.m. on Sunday.

That's prime time for families gathering for their big Easter meal.

Crews from Braintree Electric Light Department went out to fix the problem, which a worker said emanated from the area near the company's operations center.

Crews said that about 9,000 of 16,000 customers were without electricity for nearly two hours.

Crews were able to isolate the issue and residents had their power back on shortly before 3 p.m.

It was not a long time to be without power, but it certainly was a bad day to lose it.
