Late at Night, Marathoners Return to Downtown Boston

(NECN: Alison King, Boston) - Close to midnight on Monday, many marathoners were still roaming the streets of Downtown Boston.

Just blocks from the finish line, and the explosion site, the runners who did not finish the race still needed to pick up the yellow bags filled with their personal belongings.

During the Boston Marathon, runners leave their yellow bags on a school bus in Hopkinton. The school bus comes to Copley Square, where the runners pick up their belongings.

Typically, up to 200 bags are not picked up.

This time, about 2,000 bags lie on Berkley Street, waiting to be picked up.

NECN reporter Alison King has more.
