Vigil Held for Fallen MIT Officer

(NECN: Julie Loncich, Wilmington, Mass.) - On Friday, the man-hunt for the two suspects in the Boston Marathon bombing investigation left communities across the state mourning the loss of an MIT police officer.

Authorities say Sean Collier, 26 and a native of Wilmington, Mass., was killed late Thursday night after an encounter with the Tsarnaev brothers.

On Saturday, Collier's hometown came together in a show of support for the fallen officer and his family. A vigil was held as close to a thousand people lined the streets in Wilmington to honor Collier.

Collier was classmates with Richard Donahue, 33, at the MBTA Transit Police's municipal academy in 2010. Donahue was the Transit Police officer critically wounded in a shootout with the bombing suspects.
